A TASTE OF HAITI - A fundraising dinner

On March 18th, The Central and Aramark are proudly presenting the biggest Haiti fundraiser at Trent. Come to Champlain Hall and enjoy a Haitian cuisine buffet while listening to fascinating guest speakers.

The minimum donation for a ticket is $17.

Tickets are going on sale on March 1st but make sure you get your ticket early because there are only 240 tickets in total.

All the money will be donated through WUSC (World University Service of Canada) for educational funding as well as through Habitat for Haiti for capacity building.

Bottled Water Free Day

Come out on March 11th and help us make Trent bottled water free!

Joe Cressy from the Polaris Institute will be giving a speech on "Bottled water - How it went on sale and why we don't buy it" at 5pm in SC137.

Also make sure you sign up for 'bottled-water free Trent' organizing.

Scene Break Film Fest

Scene Break Film Fest allows Trent students an opportunity to create a short film. Films must be no longer than 15 minutes, and is open to any genre. Films are posted online and are also showcased at the Annual Scene Break Film Fest night where prizes are given to the winning participants. Get ready to show off your talent in February 2010.

Iron Chef: Trent

Iron Chef Trent is a fun event which focuses on the secretly amazing chefs at the University. Students that have signed-up are given a secret ingredient they must include in a main course meal. The meal must then be brought to The Central office where judges criticize or commend the meals. The winner receives a grand prize and gets the title of "Trent's Iron Chef". Make sure you sign up for this January event.

Dionysus

Dionysus takes the last day of school to a whole new level. With live bands, a beer garden, BBQ, and many more fun activities, Dionysus brings makes the last day of school a day (and night) to remember. This time it will be on April, 2nd 2010.

Matinée

Matineée showcases a new movie to students every week. It is held in the Bata Library Film Room (bottom floor, next to IT). The films are free and allow students or faculty to pop in at anytime during the showing to grab some free pop corn and relax in between classes.

Trent's Anti-Poverty Week '09

The Central is organizing a campaign to raise awareness to the issue of poverty in our Peterborough community. From October 5th to 10th there will be lectures, drop-in sessions, a fundraising drive and a lot of volunteering opportunities true to this year's theme "Give A Hand".

This is the schedule of events and activities:

Monday: Info sessions at Bata library by Peterborough charity groups that work with the underprivileged.

Tuesday: Outreach by students to downtown organization and institutions to raise awareness.

Wednesday: Fundraising drive in downtown area and a 6pm lecture by Brenda Dales, the head of Peterborough's Social Planning Council.

Thursday: Volunteering in the different participating organizations

Friday: More volunteering and free BBQ downtown
