The affairs of The Central are governed by an elected Board of Directors.
Five of these Directors comprise the Executive Committee, which provides leadership to and takes direction from the Board of Directors. The members of the Executive Committee receive honoraria and are responsible for undertaking much of the day-to-day work of the Association.
Each residential College Cabinet has two seats on the Board of Directors, one for a College Commissioner and one for a Senator, making up ten seats on the Board reserved for college based representatives.
Finally, to ensure that students from all constituencies are heard at meetings of the Board of Directors and represented in the work of the Association, ten Issues Commissioners represent the diverse interests and populations of Trent students.
The Central's Board of Directors is a working board, meaning that it not only oversees the affairs of the Association, but also undertakes much of the work that goes into the Association's campaigns, services and events.
In addition to this, recognising that the Board is comprised of students, the Association employs one full-time staff person—the Operations Manager (operations@trentcsa.ca). The Operations Manager works closely with the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee to provide support, advice and continuity for the organisation. The role of the Operations Manager is not to lead, but rather to inform and to assist the Executive Committee, and in particular, to co-ordinate and effectively accomplish the work that the Board of Directors chooses to undertake. The Operations Manager is also responsible for managing the Association's offices and the Association's other part-time and seasonal staff.
